Camping in the park

I am an instructor for our church's Outdoor Ministry. I will be meeting (in a turkey blind) with our recreation minister to plan for some activities for this year. I was thinking of a weekend trip to the Park for camping and fishing. I have never camped in the backcountry. I would appreciate your input for ease of access and good fishing nearby. I have a Park map so I can pinpoint the areas you mention. Thanks in advance!

How far are you willing to hike? What side of the park?

Probably stay on the Townsend end and a short hike of about maybe two hours. Won't have any details until mid-May. Was thinking of Cades Cove CG and fish Abrams Creek.
