Rippin Lips....Brookie edition

The weather was beautiful this weekend so i had the chance to take a few of my buddies to the park this weekend and teach them the art of fly fishing:)

we headed to one of my favorite streams in the green briar area and after a short hike to our destination we began the chore of "slaying" brookies in mass quantities:)

They seamed to hit anything yellow..most came off a 16 yellow stimulator or a elk hair caddis...with some hitting a 16 BHPT on the drop

finally after lots of fish between the two of us, the third guy in our party caught his first fish ever on a fly rod...how many can say that their first fish on a fly was a brook?

That's one of my favorite stretches of water. How far did you make it upstream? Did you hike the stream back, or find the manway?

I caught 2 9 inchers up there a month back which if most def far from the norm, although I'm not complaining:rolleyes:

Greenbriar was the first stream I ever fished in the smokies. That was 15 years ago now. I would really love to get back in there. But until then thanks for the report and photos. Brings back alot of memories.
