I wet waded a small stream earlier this week before all the storms rolled through. beautiful little flow with waist deep water and plenty of shade along the banks. perfect place for a 3 or 4 wt rod and a handful of poppers on my lanyard. I love fishing out of a boat or canoe but this type of fishing is just so relaxing and simple.
Lots of fiesty smallies learning how to survive by eating anything it can before heading down into the main rivers.

lots of rockbass in the slow pools and one of my favorites... the brook trout of warm water... the redbreast.

and occasionaly you find a decent sized bass that decided to hang out waiting to eat my yellow popper. They make a nice bendo on the ultralight rod.

Gotta love small stream wet wading evenings when its so hot! Next time I'm taking some hoppers.

Looks like an awesome trip Gary! I enjoy those little warm water creeks more and more every year it seems...generally no monsters but the fish are plentiful and willing to eat a fly...

Nice catches! Love hittin the creeks when I cant get to some Trout waters.

Went back to the stream last evening in a different section. ultralight rods, creek fish and hopper patterns are a good way to forget about a hard day at work!
