Wilson Creek Area 9/16

My wife and I took our 7 month old son camping off the blue ridge parkway late last week. On friday, we hiked in the wilson creek area and I was lucky enough to get an hour of fishing in (yes...only an hour :redface:). The fish were pretty hungry though...especially for weenies. Just about a 50/50 mix of browns & rainbows.

This particular creek was full of big pools & waterfalls.

These rainbows fought extra hard in the big pools, and I even heard my drag sing a few times.

Best fish of the day came at the last pool, right in front of the family. This one went just over 12".

Very nice. There is a brown stream up that way that I enjoy from time to time.

I guess the baby explains why your fishing reports have been somewhat limited this Spring & Summer:rolleyes:

Wilson Creek is one of my favorite whitewater rivers, and I have never had the chance to fish it. All that granite is beautiful.

Thanks for the report - Now if we could just move it about 2-3 hours West I would spend much more time there:biggrin:

Well, yes somewhat. I have posted a few trip reports on another forum. I have also had a few overnight trips turn out to have less than favorable fishing results this year.

grouseman77, bhrt, and I took our families on a camping trip to cosby a few weeks back. We intended on wearing out some brook trout, but found barely enough water to determine where the stream used to be :eek:

Let the record show we did wear them out, just have no pictures to prove it. Here is one of mom and baby Dane. Lots of action but no hook ups so I guess we can say the boy is not much of a good luck charm... We need to get this papoose on Dad and see how he fares.:biggrin:

Nice report Cody. I think we did pretty well over at Cosby...considering there was only about a half gallon of water.
