The past two days were perfect for fishing and even decent for camping if you don't mind a little rain. I spent both days on LR while camping at Cades Cove. The catching was a little on the slow side but I can't complain when one of the few I do catch is a nice brown. This fish hit an olive sculpin pattern (I saw tons of sculpins on this trip) and there was no doubt about it...

For those just interested in getting out, I think you could have caught good numbers of rainbows and smaller browns if you were willing to fish nymphs hard. I even saw a few rainbows rising in the slower back eddies... This warm water won't last for too long so enjoy it while you can!
Great brown David! Glad you got to enjoy some fishing before all this rain hit.

Nice fish David! Sculpin patterns are a good bet this time of year. Big fish love them.

Nice! Hopefully, I will try a few of my friend Ray's Sculpin Patterns next year on the Clinch for some of the bigger boys...

Shawn, throwing streamers on the tailwaters is addicting. I've got it so bad now that I throw them even on low water just because I can. I'll look forward to seeing how you do next year!

Nice brown! How long was it? Estimated weight? Inquiring minds want to know.

Not sure about the weight but it measured 21 inches...

That's just sick...probably against a few laws, not to mention rules and regulations of various municipalities and small countries...if it's not it should be.

Beautiful fish, David. Those size large sure like a nice sculpin dinner. Hard to put away the streamer box. Very glad you didn't.

Still in spawning colors too. Awesome fish. Did he slam it or just suck it in?

Lynn, he slammed it like he wanted to kill it...definitely a really cool take.

It's a true challenge to catch a fish like that in the Park. You seem to have it figured out, at least to some degree. Gorgeous fish, David.

Thanks! As much as I would like to say I've got it figured out, there are tons of people that have it figured out way better than I do. If people could see some of the fish guys are catching routinely it would be an eye opening experience...
