I got a late start and headed up to the Clinch at 12:00 or so. I had never been to Miller's area before so I decided to check that out.

The water was gorgeous. Couldn't ask for a better day.

I used a pheasant tail since I have read about all the success with them. Once I was able to get used to the wind and currents I had a strike, but wasn't ready for it. The very next cast I got another strike and was able to land it. This was my first time ever landing a trout...I'm guessing it was 10-12 inches

After I calmed down from all the excitement, I picked a spot about 10 feet down and caught this guy...about the same size.

That's all I caught today, but for my second trip to the Clinch I am excited about it.

Congradulations!

CAUTION: this trout fishing thing can become addictive! With time and experience, you will be able to learn how to adjust to the river to consistently catch fish on each outing. It is all good!

Congrats, my first trout on the fly was a 5 inch wild bow. I was so happy, he might as well been 5 pounds.

Give him time. That gives you an excuse to keep going back.
There is a carp fishing organization that told of a large carp in Europe that had been caught numerous times over the years. A record of its growth was kept up until the fish went to that Great Pond in the Sky.

Tight Lines,

I tell you, I couldn't have been more impressed by that rod. It made me feel like a pro caster, even with the wind gusts.
