Sawyer and his first rainbow

Taking a son fishing has got to be one of the most rewarding endeavors a father and son can share. This trip, I truly coached and stayed to the rear and missed every strike he did today and on the flip side caught each fish as he did from afar.

Today though, he can say he brought to hand his own on a very cold 47 degree day in the rain. Water temp. was 53 degrees.

Every trip we pass these falls it's a new look!!

Great stuff Breck! Love that picture of the falls, very nicely done! Also really glad to see you passing on everything you love about this sport to your son. That's what its all about!

Great story! I have been camping/fishing with my son ( now 28 ) for years now in that area! This past March, we took one of my Grandsons with us. It is now a family tradition to camp/fish there every March!

Start them young and when you get too old to drive yourself (or in my case, wife won't let me go by myself anymore), you'll have a ride to the mountains.

He's a trooper for sure, you couldn't have dragged me out into that weather! Pretty tight stream which could make for a frustrating day too. Good to see you all had some luck despite the conditions.

Glad he was able to get it by himself. Must be hard to stand back, and let him have his space without helicoptering over him. Good Job:smile: Most parents can't seem to do that. I'm sure in the end he'll learn more by making his own mistakes and getting a few pointers from you as you watch from the bank.
