This fall has been unseasonably mild, enough so that we are starting to get a bit concerned about the moisture situation. A wildfire in RMNP is still active and just over a week ago, a high wind event pushed the fire 3 miles in just over 30 minutes. Needless to say, we could use some real winter!

On the other hand, I'm glad that it is still mild enough to actually enjoy fishing. I guess its a good opportunity to count my blessings. Hopefully the snow will come and thankfully the bulk of winter is still ahead of us.

I've been out a couple of times in the last week or so on Clear Creek above Golden. The majority of the ice has melted with the recent warm temperatures and the fish were out feeding. I made it out Friday afternoon for about 2 hours and found lots of fish willing to chase streamers. Hooking up was another story but I finally started catching the colorful browns. A couple of nice rainbows also flashed the streamer but didn't get get the hook apparently.

My streamer of choice was a small fly I tie that is a cross between a Clouser and a Crazy Charlie with pearl body and white bucktail wing. The thing that is always interesting to me about streamers is that every fish seems to want a different retrieve. Some fish would chase if I was ripping it through the currents while others wanted it slow bounced near the bottom.

The temperature started dropping enough that I was glad to head home but what an afternoon it had been!

Great pictures, Dave! About the streamer you used; any close-up pictures of that? And a recipe, too, if you care to share. I love fishing white streamers.

Thanks guys!

O2bfishin, I don't have any pictures right now but will try and get some later this week if possible. I need more tied up anyway in case I can fish again soon!
