View Full Version : Another January report.... 1/29-tremont

I managed to get out to the park for the last two hours before dark on Tuesday. Heading up from Maryville and being in dire need if tippet, I stopped in at LRO and had a good chat with Daniel. I fished an area along the gravel road and had another pretty good day... ESP for January.

I caught several on a caddis larvae dropper like these

I lost several, which has been pat for the course lately.

I did catch a couple on my grey neversink I have been using for the winter, and most of the bigger fish hit it with a vengeance. Here is a 7" bow I caught on it.

Overall... Caught 8, three good sized ones, and lost about as many more.

Can't complain for two hours of tremont fishing in January!

3 days down, 97 to go!!!

Man that's awesome to be catching fish on dries in January. It is one of the beautiful things about the Smokies for sure!!! Thanks for sharing the report from your outing.

David... How true. I may have to head your way this summer should you be interested in taking someone on a back country excursion...

There are some places in western Co off the divide trail that are definitely on my to do list!

Good to see you got out. I wish the smaller trout would just ignore my fly. Those things are annoying. I had one on the other day and didn't even realize it until I tried to cast.

True, but it is always preferable to ALL the trout ingnoring your fly

Great to see some mountain fish being caught! Especially on dries! If you don't mind me asking, what type and size caddis dropper were you using?

It was a caddis larvae, uncased, size 14 ties with off white wool.
