Has anyone had much luck fishing for bluegills using chironomid patterns or other midge pupae/larvae patterns?

Heck yeah!

Just put an ordinary midge on an indicator and hold on. They usually take it as soon as it hits the water.

I actually got to test this out last week. Caught a few gills in a small pond using a pattern I tied up on a sz 12 fished under an indicator. I'll have to experiment with this more but my initial results were good coming from the first day.
