View Full Version : Smokemont advice

After three relatively unsuccessful backcountry trips into the Smokies (fishing wise), with 2 fish total, my boys and I wanted to try our first front country trip. Smokemont was the only camp with availability on the NC side. We have been up to CS50 twice with no success with fish, so we have some knowledge of the streams here. Any advice on what flies to use this time of year? We will be there next Thursday to Saturday. Any other advice or tips would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

I would simply go with a size 16 or 14 stimulator with a size 16 pheasant tail under it. no need to go any fancier than that. put 16-18 inches between the dry and dropper. oh, stimulator color does not matter much...olive, brown, yellow, all good. great fishing right in the camp ground also.
Ditto that, good fishing around the campground. Keep your drifts natural and mind how you approach a spot and you should improve your luck!
