Got out yesterday but the water was way high...I think I saw Rutter out with some clients but my eyes have gone over the last few years and it may not have been him.

The water was pretty high. In fact hike up Elkmont (huskey BR to campground) was perfect flow for kayaking yesterday. I sure wouldn't have wanted to be fishing:eek:. Really need to find a smaller stream on days like that, and even then with the PH Acidity Bomb plus the change of conditions, always seems to put the fish down (Unless your initials are DK). At least you didn't pay a guide a big chunk to fish on a day like that:biggrin:. I'm sure you saw Ian as he is easy to spot from 200 yards away:smile:
The firefly's were supposed to be peak. Did you get a show? That alone should have been worth the trip
Thanks for the post, and your bound to have better conditions next time

Didn't see any fireflies until we got back to my sisters place. It was a beautiful hike but no fish...I didn't realize how much rain we got the night before as I sleep like a log...I should have checked the report. There were some fishable pools but I didn't even get a tail slap.

Even with the high water it's still a wonderful day out. I actually like those levels to try and fish. Heavy streamers with nymph trailer flies. Don't catch many but catch better quality.

Yeah, I should have tossed a few buggers into the deeper pools.
