View Full Version : Elkmont Camping & A Little Fishing

Took the wife and son to Elkmont on Saturday & Sunday, and managed to do a little fishing. The fishing wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't bad either. I didn't fish much, as I tend to try and get more quality time with my family than I do fish. Although, I try to maintain a balance of father/son fishing time along with some personal time on the water. I did manage to snap a few pictures while on the water:

This tiny brown was a long way from where I would expect him to be.

I won't bore you will all the details of the trip, but I have a pretty lengthy report on my blog, along with other pictures.

What a wonderful time of year, and very nice to get out on another camping trip.

The next few weeks finds me with two trips to Colorado, and I hope to get some fishing time with the illustrious Mr. Knapp. Really looking forward to these trips, as I will be in Boulder, and follow that up a couple weeks later with a trip to Steamboat Springs. I hope to have some decent reports to post on here afterward.

Love the NW section of Colorado and the Yampa!!! Did some building in Craig 10 years ago and made sure to take my kayak and fly fishing gear. It was NOT uncommon to see gigantic mule deer just blocks from downtown Craig......oh the memories.... : )

I like your priorities, Travis. I imagine your family does as well.

Great post: Colorful, fishy and yummy.

I'm going to have to have a little talk with him when I see him Monday.

I know, I know..... I hope this doesn't label me as the Alex Rodriguez of the message board. I admit to using Performance Enhancing Flies!

I must say that they were taking the barbie bug (pink weenie) with gusto on Sunday morning.

Since I have used my variation of that fly on every one of my smokies trips this year (probably not going to make to my goal of 100, but I'm nearing 50), what does that make me?
