I've been getting out as much as possible over the last few weeks. This is my favorite time of year to be on the water. This year has been spectacular as the browns have been hitting streamers aggressively on every trip I've taken. The colors were nice but hit their peak a bit early compared to what happens in Tennessee. Of course we've already had our first snow and in the higher mountains, the ski resorts are already starting to open.

We even have salmon out here!

The browns are incredibly aggressive lately. Lake-run fish have been the best for willingness to chase streamers. There are plenty of spots to find these fish. Some are off the beaten path which makes the experience that much better...

Note the good luck LRO "Brookie" hat below...it really does work as a good luck charm!

The fish below was caught on Boulder Creek right in town. The fish fell for a streamer but did not hit as hard as some of the fish I've caught recently. The cold temperatures may have something to do with the fish seeming a bit sluggish.

I'm on my second LRO brookie hat and both have brought some great luck. When this one gets worn out I'll be getting my third...

I'm definitely blessed to be able to spend time out here! I'll try to post some more trip reports soon.

Yeah, the kokanee was great and jumped all over the place. The brown took me for a ride. I really did not think I was going to land it. I lost a beast rainbow in that same spot a few years ago and started having flashbacks as soon as I hooked that brown. It was a great moment when the fish slipped into the net.

It's a whole different world once you're west of the Missouri. The scenery, the size of the trout. It's always a good idea to experience life in another part of the country.

Top shelf as usual! Great pics and fish - the fall colors are striking. Glad to see you haven't skipped a beat... the flooding was no joke.

I'm envious of all of you back in TN as well. I would love to be back where things don't freeze over for the whole winter...

I'm always impressed by the size of fish out here. My local creeks, however, are more like the Smokies with lots of little guys. I agree about experiencing life in another part of the country. This is a great opportunity for me living out here to experience some new country and fishing!

Thanks James! We have been fortunate to have intense recovery efforts that have opened a lot of roads back up quickly. Hope you are able to make it out this way again. Give me a holler if you do and we'll try to get out and fish again.

David,

Thanks Shawn!
