I was fortunate enough to get one of Oscar Feliu's old fly tying videos several years ago. That circumstance really changed the way I started tying flies. I moved away from tying cookie cutter flies to experimenting and focusing on realistic representations.

Anyhow; I stumbled on three of his videos on YouTube for Caddis Flies and thought I would share the links. I hope others enjoy his style and tutorials as much as I have....His mayfly tying videos are amazing!

*Notes of interest: Rabbit hair for gills, boars hair, blend of markers with stretch rib.

Hal, I actually use traditional colors for tying caddis flies in East Tennessee. The main variations I change are the sizes and colors of beads I utilize. Here are some pictures I photographed of caddis from my Clinch River, TN Facebook Page. Hope this helps with your question bud.

This is probably my favorite realistic caddis tutorial.
Pretty easy, with mostly readily available materials.
I use plastic grocery bags for the wings.
