Love the site and message board

Wow, I love it that you have a message board now. I live near Jasper, AL and have trout fished in every spot you guys mentioned from Smith Dam near Jasper to the Smoky's. My favorites are there the Hiwassee and in Townsend on the Little River.

I am a housemother to a bunch of teenage girls and we make an annual trip to Townsend every year. Last year I actually hooked up with a beautiful rainbow on the Little River on my fly rod. I am a bit embarrassed to say this, but that was my first rainbow on my fly rod. The bad part is, I have had my fly rod for over five years now! OK, you can stop laughing now!!

Since my fishing time is very limited, I use my ultralight or whatever seems to be working and for me it is NOT usually my flyrod. Anyway, the point of all this is, there's something special about catching a trout on a fly rod and I simply can hardly wait to get back up there this June!! I want to catch a bunch on that thing. I always stop in your place with my entourage and you guys are very helpful.

Every week, if I want to relax, I get on your site and the Hiwassee site and it just takes me there, if you know what I mean. What a blast!

One thing that is holding me back a little, is the cost of the out of state license. The cost is a killer and I don't know if it would be better to get a year rounder or just the one day license each time I fish. I'll have to work that out later. I guess it just depends on how many times I think I might get to go.

Anyway, I love your site and thanks for the info.

I fish the Sipsey as much as I can in the summer, but it's kind of hard with eight girls tagging behind me :-/. I sure do enjoy it though and the scenery is great. The girls that don't like to fish get to hang out and just enjoy God's creation.

Last summer we were up there and a guy fishing around the turbines at the plant caught the biggest trout I've ever seen out of there. Probably a good two pounds. He was using a medium weight spinning reel and minnows so it doesn't count! Anyway, it was nice to know that there are some bigger ones in there.

i have not been to the sipsey in months.......its a shame...

i do hit the elk up in TN more than i do the sipsey.

I have fished the Elk a few times. My parents live in Chattanooga, so I try to go to the Hiwassee(mostly)but have a couple of friends who got my hooked on the Elk too.

Two people from my folks church go up there two or three times a year. One caught a about a 5 lb rainbow out of there and the other caught a brown better than 10 lbs in the last few years. Makes me want to go right now!! Since it's a longer drive to the Elk, I usually do the Hiwassee though. There are some HUGE browns in there and good sized rainbows as well.

The Sipsey is so great to have here in AL. Don't know what I'd do if I couldn't fish there in between my trips to Tennessee. If you are ever on the Sipsey and you see a lady with eight girls dragging along, it's probably me! I try to encourage them to fish and enjoy it as well as I do, but not all of them like it. Sure beats alot of things they could be doing! Thanks for the post.
