View Full Version : fishing in Smokies March 20-25

I will be staying in Townsend during the week of March 20 -25 and plan on doing a good bit of fishing.
I have fishied in the smokies 3-5 times in the past years.
I want to know just how difficult Abrams Creek is to fish, the Big and Little Shoe?
I will be staying on the Little River just outside of Cades Cove, where are some good areas to hit in this local area?
Any and all info about location and hatch would be great?

:) Good morning Dixiefly. You should be seeing lots of Hendricksons and Quill Gordons at the time your here as well as some light Caddis. That thing about the Horseshoes? Look over some of the former posts and read all the info that you can, that others have given about fishing the Horseshoes. I think you will find that it is an accepted fact that you need someone with you if you go into these places. Good fishing to you and enjoy yourself.

I'm going to my annual Hiwassee Spring cleanup on Saturday March 18th. If you would like to fish the mighty Hi pm and we could hook up, or we could do a smokies stream on Sunday the 19th. You know which one i'm talking about. Let me know?
Think the same flies are what will be working the week of the 27th? drop a Blackbird under them?

:)That should work Tom. A Lady Blackbird would match a little closer. Look at them. You can tie it.
My son might be able to tie them, but my fingers don't do what they are told. Do you think the same flies would work in the Greenbrier area?

Sunday the 19th would work best for me. We will be staying in G-burg and will be arriving on the 17th.
Where would you like to go?
