Hi,
I'm going to the Nantahala next weekend (fishing the delayed harvest section) and I'm looking for suggestions on flies and sizes.
Any help at all would be appreciated since I've never fished there before.
Thanks for reading my post, have a good one.

I've spent alot of time in that river and the fish are amazingly keyed in on copper johns. Make sure to bring plenty. I spent some time fishing there this previous month and in very cold weather, usually snowing or spitting sleet. In these conditions the fish were holding very close to the bottom and were congragated in deep pockets. If its as nice there as its suppose to be here, then the fish should be nice and active. I would suggest going early. That area is gaining in popularity. -good luck

Here are a couple of more suggestion to go along with what was said above.
I have had excellent results with a modified Prince. It has longer than normal yellow biot wings and the brown biots for the for the tail are replaced with golden pheasant crest tippets. Use red copper wire instead of the silver or gold wrap.
A size size 10 or 12 Muddler Minnow produced the biggest fish on a recent outing.
There will be Quill Gordons, small black Caddis, and Blue Quills so have some of their imitations ready for the afternoon hatch. Saturday the bugs where floating by without being eaten but the fish should start keying on all the activity producing a better dry fly bite
Hope this helps, let us know how things went with a follow-up report.
