Fishing was good today...until the generation started...Brown caddis were hatching...I did not know until today that caddis flies use their wings to get to the surface...the trout noticed too...I got to see the trout watch the caddis get to the top and then slam it....J.Hightower

Good looking trout. :) My son and I headed up Saturday morning with no generations planned as of 9:30am. Got down to the river about 10:10 and had just drifted my first cast when the siren went off. We had walked down from the dam so our out access choices were very limited and all almost straight up. As I started a slow trot down the river to find a better way out, over my shoulder came the 3 foot wall of water. :o All I could do was throw my gear up on a hill and grab a root. It took me about 10 minutes to clamber up the side of this mountain and make my way back to the trail, where I met up with my son. So much for fishing that day. >:( Seems like they could have a little more consideration for the fisherman, and at least get their releases posted correctly an hour or two ahead of time. Next time I think we'll drive an extra 1.5 hours and go to Hiawassee.

Nice trout!

Ditto on getting caught by rising water!! :P It happens to me all the time, and really, it can be quite dangerous, not to mention how unnerving it is.

One time my girls and I were fishing and they sounded the siren early. The girls dropped mystuff they were fishing with and ran looking for me. By the time we got out of there, I had all the girls, but was minus three fishing poles and some tackle. :'(

I do wish they would do better at following their release schedule. Maybe one day...
