Hi,
I have been to the Mountains many times as a matter of fact they call to me very often, as of right now they are screaming at me! I bring my family and have a great time. Most of the time I fish easy to get to areas so I can keep an eye on things or hang out at LRO till they run me out. With the price of the license going to Mars I'm thinking of more in the park, this has been coming for a while.
Ok
*question 1: I have a 8'6" 5wt. and a 8' 4wt. im6 which will do he best in the park areas.
*question 2: How long and light is the leaders?
*question 3: What weight material do you use for the butt section?
Thats all I have for now.
Thanks,
Bob *

question 1:
I would say either rod will do fine. My personal preference would be the 8' 4wt. It will do dries fine and if you need to lead up to get the nymphs deep it can handle it just as well.

question 2:
I would use 7' to 9' leaders and you set the size of the leader tip by the size of your fly. if you are using a size 18 fly then use a 6X leader, and if a size 12 fly then use a 4X. The rule is divide the size of your fly by 3 to get the proper leader/tippet size.

question 3:
If you are using tapered leaders then this is preset for you. If you are tying your own leaders then I would start with .021 for the 4X and down to a .019 for the 6x leaders. If you are talking sinking leaders, I don't see a use in the shallow waters uf the park. If you need to get you nymph down in a pool, just put some lead about 8" to 12" infront of the nymph to get a near natural presentation in the current.

I hope this helps, and have fun while visiting our park.
