Four of us saltwater types from the Florida Panhandle are planning on fishing in your neighborhood during the first week in May. We are not totally ignorant on fishing the Smokies, but then, :-/ we aren't real sharp either. We are planning on fishing the Little River watershed. Can I get some recommendation on flies to tie? I know Adams and Para Adams are a given. What about Elk Hair Caddis? What color and size do you guys recommend?

Stimulators are usually good in the smaller sizes for me. The little yellow stones should be starting to make an appearance by then so anything with yellow is good generally. For nymphs, you can't beat a Prince or PT. In smaller sizes, a GRHE can be good. Tellicos are always good (there's the yellow again :P). Just remember that the fish are hungry. Really, fly selection isn't as important as being sneaky and making a good presentation...

I'll go with the yellow. Last year LRO hooked me up with some yellow/green stoneflies when I was there the 2nd week in May and I had the best trip of my life. It seems anything yellow gets there attention.
