The fishing was good on this particular day. *The sun came out and the dry flies were working. *I ended up catching a few more but only 1 more with any size (8'') but its great catching them no matter what the size.
LRO = thanks for the flies....and this board

Glad you had a good one. I hope to be able to fish with you next time. I know I keep saying that but things have been busy with non fishing stuff for me lately. I am trying to get out possibly this Sunday. Keep in touch and let me know when you are heading out next time.

i plan on hiking there and staying overnight.
if any locals can give me any info about the hike down the little river i would much appriciate.

chad - Thanks for the comments. Elkmont IMO is a great place to camp, hike and fish.
For the 1st part of the trail the creek is very close to the trail. This allows you to fish a spot and then move on to the next pool and then move again.....and so on. Having the trail close by is a nice plus.
I cant give you any info on bear activity.......sorry. I did see one in the park while I was there but it was not in the elkmont area.
Good luck!
Remember to take your camera and post some pics for all of us to see.

I was at Elkmont on Friday last week and there was a sign at the trail head stating that one of the campsites was closed due to high bear activity. I am not sure what campsite was closed. I would suggest calling park headquarters before heading to Elkmont.
Roger, thanks for the heads up.

Like the sound of all the articles about park fishing. *Would like to ask some questions about fishing in the park and get some information from Little River.
How do you do that on this site?

I keep going back and reading the replies on this post and everytime I re-read and look at the pictures.......I wish I was back in the GSM and on the little river trail!!

Camp #27 above Elkmont is Closed due to Bear Activity. I saw lots of Bear sign coming down the Little River trail this PM. Big Black Hair balls. There was a good hatch of Hendricksons, Mon and Tuesday up there but Wednesday was a dud, compared to other days?? I would have thought it would have been better. Caught several small ones on Hendrickson nymphs.
