View Full Version : little river fishing

Just got back from my yearly trip to the Townsend area. It was wonderful except for one small(well, large) problem - I got skunked fishing all my usual holes plus some new ones on the river. It was slow, with few bumps. Tried everything I had - yellow sallies, nymphs, etc. and all the stuff that LRO showed should have been working. I even used my ultralight and powerbait, anything, just to get 1!! Even though the water wasn't as clear as usual due to the heavy rains in the morning, this should have been better. One guy on the river said it hadn't been stocked in a while, which made me feel a little better, but still disappointed.

Maybe I should have concentrated inside the park where I only fished for about 30 minutes. Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out what happened and why. I am going to take some advice that keeps popping up here and come up sometime, get a guide, and learn. Heck, maybe I just stink at it and need to learn how to do it right. Any comments or critiquing would be appreciated.

You probably don't stink at it, it can be that way sometimes for us all. I can tell you this much though, I don't think you could go wrong with hiring one of these guides for a day of instruction. You'd be surprised at what you can learn from one day with a good guide.

Good luck and happy fishing! ;)

Thanks for the reply. Guess it was one of those times :'(. I usually only get there once a year, so my expectations were high. It'd be okay with me if I could get there once a month :). Anyway, I am going to take some time this summer on a weekend , bite the bullet i.e. -open the pocketbook, and go with a guide from LRO.

That's good advice and I'll take it.
