I am curious what kind of hook do you use for a green weenie? Nymph/streamer? And also what sized are good?. Thanks!

just curious... How do u fish a green weenie? and when you tie it, do you weight it or not? :)

FFM4LIFE, you can fish it several ways. Perhaps the easiest is to just drop it off a nice bushy dry fly such as a stimulator. You can also fish it as a regular nymph, either with or without weight. Some people like to tie theirs with beadheads. Personally, I normally tie mine without weight and add a split shot or two if I want to get it down. Other times though I fish it without any weight and I feel that this is probably more realistic. All of the above ways will probably catch fish equally well though. Fish this fly in the middle of the summer after a good rainstorm and you will soon get tired of catching so many fish... ;)

I usually fish it as a nymph wieghted with a black bead head...more often than not as a dropper...

I tie mine on Mustad 9671 size 12. That is just your basic wet/streamer hook. I tie some weighted with lead wire and some unweighted. Most of the time I'll fish it unweighted. When the water is up a little the added weight can come in handy. You need to have both if you can. I fish mine as a dropper about 18" under a dry fly, usually a stimulator. I feel that the ubweighted version tumbles through the water more naturally. This is a hard fly to beat during the summer.
