I got there about 6 am and it was a little brisk and overcast. It started to rain so I put on the rain gear and ventured in. I guess the weather caused a lot of people to stay away because it was just me and one other person there for about and hour and a half before anyone else showed up. I caught a couple on zebra midges and a couple on a white and gold scud. I had never used that color before but it worked well that day.

I just started fly tying about 2 weeks ago so I'll post some pics of that as soon as they start to look like something.

Great post, heyski!

Also, I appreciate the sizing of your pics! Nice shots, btw.

I'll have to brag about your choice of tailwater! It is a fine stream and holds some impressive trout. Thanks for the post and nice pics.

BTW- A rainy day can be one of the best days on that river!

2 of us fished hard all day today and all we could get to work was a #20 Tung Zebra. A few good hits on a #18 prince with lead about 12 inches up under an indicator. I hate indicators! No fish worth bragging about but a great time spent with a friend headed for Iraq.

Nice pics! I was there fighting the crowd on Sat. Used a zebra all day long and caught several. Nothing was over 13" though. I did, however, get lucky enough to have my license checked. First time that's ever happened.

Went monday also but the generators didn't follow schedule and ran all day....so I was only able to get in about an hour at Betty's Island before the high water hit me.

Great pictures...thanks for sharing

I too was on the Caney on 4/28. It's the closest Trout water to Nashville so i'm out there every chance I get ...had my best day ever, caught and released an embarrassing number (true, I could have caught the same fish more than twice) but landed 5 that were in the 12-14" range. I split my 8 hours between Betty's island and the dam.

And like you, doghair ...had my license checked. Good to know enforcement is working.

I've only had my license checked twice in my life time. I assume that's a low number. Guess I better hit the stream more often.

Nice report and pictures! Glad to know the Caney is still fishing good...I'll be heading down there at least once next week and perhaps more assuming the generation schedule works out...
