memorial day float

[Troutman]

Spent the day on the river with my daughter. She loves to float in the kayak and is showing interest in fishing. I took both the fly rod and a small spin outfit with some roostertails. We put in a paddled upstream and fished our way back to the takeout and were able to catch a few smallies and several redbreast. She also hooked a nice rainbow but it came off before I could net it. A great day to be out and spend one on one time with her. A couple of picts from today.

Nice! Beautiful fish, I'm glad to see the next generation enjoying this great
sport. I took my little girl (8YO) Crappie fishing a couple weeks ago. After I
had caught a couple on my 6 ft 3 weight fly she said she wanted to try that.
I helped her cast the nymph and start stripping line back, she caught on fast and had landed a couple Crappies in a few minutes. Feels good to share something that has brought me so much pleasure and peace of mind.
