I've been on the Caney several days lately for a couple of hours each time and thought I would share a few pictures. This past Tuesday was beautiful on the river with the cloudy skies and great sunset.

Today I fished awhile and caught this trout with almost two mouths. Not quite a legit two but strange anyway...

That is nice looking brown, I am going to have to try the Caney sometimes, have drove it a few times on 40 and there is some nice looking water visible from the interstate. Some stretches look a little iffy though, wouldn't want to get caught in the wrong place when they start generating. Are you heading to Colorado again this summer? I need to get back there one of these days.

Yep! I'm heading to Colorado although not to work, just to fish... Colorado, Yellowstone....doesn't get any better....

If you want someone to fish the Caney with let me know...

What's up with the generation schedule on the Caney? I have avoided it for 2 weeks in a row due to them generating every 5 hours or so. From the pictures, it looks like you were down at the dam. I like to fish much farther down the river and it takes a while for the water to drop down.

Heyski, I'm not real sure about the reasoning behind the generation schedule (maybe Grumpy will see this and chime in...) but I'm definitely glad they're doing it. It will keep plenty of nice cool water in the river and the fish should make it through the summer in great shape this year. I believe it will be a great fall this year on the Caney... Don't overlook fishing farther down the river on this schedule. Since the generation is limited to a one hour pulse, the river isn't getting as full as it would with a steady generation and you can fish if you're careful. I've been fishing a lot at Happy Hollow also. It hasn't been easy, the fish seem to be real spooky, but it is very fishable...

I'm not sure, but the added generation may have to do with Cumberland being down for the time being. The lost gen. there probably has to be made up elsewhere. Not sure!

I'm not sure the 1 hr pulses are for generation purposes -- how much electricity can they make on that schedule? Would be nice to think they're doing it for the fish...

Anyway, it sure keeps the fishing good. Caney has always suffered from high temps and low O2 later in the summer, especially downstream. We'll have to see how it goes this year.
