Took a rookie fishing Sunday above Elkmont. He'd never even held a fly rod before he bought his on Saturday. We started fishing and the water was really, really low. There were yellow salleys flying around everywhere. He figured out the casting pretty quick and started to look like he knew what he was doing. he didn't catch anything but he got 2 hits and hooked one of them but couldn't land it. i only caught 2 very small fish.

The best part was on the hike out. We were hiking and jabbering away when I looked up an not 25' away was this black bear. I was eating a snickers bar at the time and the bear started sticking his nose in the air. i finished the last bite and the bear circled behind us and then went up the hill. The guy i was with almost turned and ran but i got him calmed down.

Nice Pictures, Seeing a bear that close makes up for the slow fishing. Fist pictures looks like you might have been shaking alittle bit.

I ran into a back bear with her cubs a few weeks back while I was fishing Abrams Creek below the falls. I was down very low working a nice pool, and not paying the least bit of attention to my surroundings. When I looked up they caught my eye as they were crossing the creek about 25 to 30 feet away. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my skin. In no time at all they were across the creek and on their way. I don't even believe they realized I was around.

I wasn't shaking, just chewing like **** on that snickers bar!!!

Thats true. The first pic looks like something you would see in a horror flick.
