I wasn't exactly sure which category to post this under, so I decided to go with this one. Many of you who live in East Tennessee have seen these sights ad nauseum, but they're startling nevertheless. As bad as things have been in the mountains, the valley areas have been hit even harder:

At least the mountains got the remnants of Humberto - unfortunately, it moved far too quickly through the area. I've been watching the depression in the gulf all day. The Hurricane Center and most of the models stubbornly called for more of a westward drift, towards us. The remnants were predicted to move far to the west before turning north and east - no help for the Smokies. However, I kept watching the storm move more north than west all day...finally, the Hurricane Center has called off the watches/warnings for the coast, as it is now inland just north of Ft Walton Beach...so, there's a chance the remnants might help out the mountains after all. Let's hope so.
