Pontoon vs. New River

anyone here ever float the new river (any section) with a one man pontoon? If so, how would you rate it's difficulty?

I normally use a canoe and float the 8 or so miles from the NC/VA line to the take out at "zaloos canoes" and never had a problem. I'm fixed on wanting to buy a pontoon in a month or so and give it a whirl (been waiting on the water levels to come back up).

He floats personal pontoons all the time for trout and smallies. He is in W.NC also. I plan on fishing with him some this year.

I have a 9' PAC 900 and I think it is more stable than any canoe I have been on. For safety sake, among other reasons, I would choose a pontoon over a canoe almost every time.
