I had a chance to look at the Lamson Litespeed reels the other day. They feel weightless, seriously. This is the lightest reel I have ever seen. Even the biggest one in the series is light. The drag sounds sweet too. Has anyone had a chance to fish one of these reels? If so, how are they?

I have a Lamson Velocity and I love it. So, I might consider the Litespeed next time I'm in the market for a new reel.

I have a Litespeed 3.5 in the old style before they improved the finish on the reel. I use it on my 8wt rod. I've used it in saltwater several times and use it for warmwater fishing. It works great!

The drag system on it is the same as in your Velocity. Great reels!!

I have the Lamson Litespeed Model 3 on my 6wt. streamer rod. They are the lightest reels I have ever used. The conical drag system is ultrasmooth. Lamson reels are top quality.

I have a Litespeed 2 that I fish frequently on a 5wt Winston WT. It is a nice reel which balances well but looks a little too modern for this set up(personal preference). I have since started fishing with an Abel Super 4 on that rod and now am searching for a new rod for the Lamson  .

Has anyone tried the Lamson ULA force? Its even lighter than the litespeed, which is hard to believe. It also will run you about $400.

The Lamson Velocity 2 is a great reel, great quality and you can find them for a very economical (relatively speaking) price. I would expect great things for the Litespeed
