I am interested in heading to the South Holston for the first time soon and have a question. What is the general rule of thumb about wading and generation? I have been to the Hiwassee and waded with one generator operating. What is that like on the South Holston? Negotiable or no way? Just wondering since I've never been. Thanks!

It isn't wise or feasible to wade on the SOFO during any generation, especially in the areas that are close to the weirs and the popular areas just below.

My dad fishes it religiously and I've fished it several times with him. It's impossible to wade when they generate. It comes up QUICKLY too and if your on the far side when they deside to "pulse" it you better be moving or you could be stuck on the far side for a while. On a side note he caught a few yesterday but the fishing has cooled off the last couple of weeks for him.
