Finding A New Spot

I went to the Soho and fished the weirs and caught one about 6 inches and there was people all over and it dint look like many were doing any good. So i packed up and went way down stream and i found a run and it was a great run. I only through to flys the whole time i was there n this hole; the egg pattern and san juan worm.I caught alot of rainbows atleast 10 all in the 14-19inch range All put up a fight on 6x.It was awesome, and i caught 5 or 6 browns all in the range of 17 to 26 inches;which was a new personal best. I fished for a rainbow that was 25plus the rest of the day and he took the egg and thats all she wrote. That 6x was nothing for this beast. Took off on a run and she never stopped.Owell great day on my 21st birthday weekend. (No pics sry my camera was dead.)

There is a nice spot down on the S. Holston from Indian Cave Rd - I cannot remember the exact name(?Something Ferry?). Anyway, you can walk up to a set of shoals upstream with a significant impoundment. I have seen some monsters fanning in this area; but - I couldn't get them to bite...:frown:

Are we talking about the South Holston - the SoHo - up below Bristol, or the Holston below Cherokee dam? Are you thinking of Nance's Ferry on the Holston?

Gerry

Gerry,
Thanks for the clarification! I was speaking of the Holston below Cherokee Dam. Yes, I believe the name is Nance's Ferry.

Those monsters are probably the buffalo. Lots of them in the Holston. They can be picky but sometimes you get lucky and you'll get to see your backing! I've seen some 20lbers but haven't got them to hand yet.

Seems like I remember that "Green Weenie" hooked into one on his 3wt last year over there and spent the next 30 min. landing it on the ultra light.

Yeah, I would highly recommend something a bit heavier than the 3 wt.
