Clinch and Holston below Cherokee.

Spring was here (almost) and I had the chance to float the Clinch on Saturday and the Holston on Sunday. Despite occasional high winds and very cold water, between 43 and 48 degrees on both rivers, we had two very good days of fishing. The Clinch was running one generator basically around the clock so we fished only from the boat. No bugs were hatching and the nymph fishing was pretty slow, but streamers produced fairly well and we wound up catching quite a few fish, a good number of whom would have been at or above the new 14 inch slot limit. The Holston was off most of the day so we had the chance to wade a few areas and the fish were pretty active. No caddis yet but midges were coming off all day. We mainly fished size 16 PT nymphs fairly shallow under an indicator and moved a lot of fish including some very nice holdovers. Over all two fun days with some fun folks. Here's a couple of pictures from the weekend. The brown was on the Clinch and the rainbow from the Holston. Hope everyone has a great Spring.

Thanks! We had a great time. Just the thing to shake off the winter doldrums.

Nice fish. I think we should start reporting the Holston trout sizes by girth rather than length. They are fat and sassy.

Atleast they knew how to set the hook;) Unlike some I know...

Mike, its good to see the first big grins of the season. That brown trout is a beautiful specimen.

Haha..it sure is! This seems to have been a REALLY long winter. With any luck, maybe we'll catch her again.
