the caney

whats up with the 24/7 2 or more generators? has anyone tried to fish it like this?

It may have something to do with the fact that Sequoyah N.P. tripped both units a couple of days ago. It takes them a few days to bring the units back up to full power and that is a lot of base load to lose at one time.

Caney

Lot's of water! If you look at all of the dams on the Cumberland system, from Wolf Creek all the way down you will see that they are all flowing a lot of water and in the case of Wolf Creek and Center Hill, they will continue to do so until they get to the levels that allow the construction to continue and still provide some safety margin. They do plan a little higher lake elevation this year than last if you look at the Corps charts. Too, when you look at what is being generated on the Center Hill dam, take a look at what is being generated on Great Falls as well. That is the dam on the upper end of Center HIll lake.

We had one fishing report form a couple of guys that went out on it on two generators and they said it was hard to fish, as I imagine it would be. I have fished the Caney for nearly 44 years and I won't get on it with more than one running, and will only get on there with one running when they plan on shutting it down for a while. You can fish it with streamers under the current conditions but you better be throwing a very heavy sinking line or you won't be able to get even a heavy streamer down. Like most of the tailwaters, this river is very dangerous when it has this much water flowing. It's best just to wait it out.

it is hard to have your cake and eat it too. normal rain fall means heavy release ,to maintain low lake levels for dam repair. last yr. was below rain fall not much release. as the summer went on had to go to slucing to cool the tailwater save the trout ,be cool!!!! other tailwaters are fishing good while tva is returning lake level to summer pool might need to travel a little like the rest of us. good luck
