Step up

TU members and others, there is a piece of property on the Clinch which is headed for auction in the next few weeks. The rumor is that the property is going to be subdivided into lots with potential for 100+ homes. We have all been lucky thus far and no subdivisions have emerged on the Clinch, but now that seems to be changing.

My fears are that when one goes in another and another will shortly follow.

If you care step up and see if we can't change the course of this event, the last thing we need on that river is urbanization right as it will destroy what so many of us love about the river.

where is the piece of property?

CinciVol 06-17-2009 08:59 AM

What could TU do to prevent a developer from legally developing land as he/she see's fit? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for stopping it if possible, just let me know how...

waterwolf 06-17-2009 09:11 AM

TU can't stop it per say, but we can voice our opinions and maybe change the outcome. It is the landowners choice, however if met with enough public outrage things might be altered.

If everyone sits on their hands as usual, then nothing is possible.

BTW I am not a TU member, not anymore.

waterwolf, where exactly is the property located? An argument against subdividing the land is the potentially harmful runoff from the development.

Waterwolf!
Thanks for posting this information! I have heard something similar to this...

I agree that we must preserve our natural resources and the zones around them.

This is bad and is all about the dollar.

It is about 4 miles above 61 bridge on the left descending bank. The runoff is a minor problem, the major problem is the snowball effect of one of these nightmares arriving on the river.

Runoff might me minor now, but remove the topsoil and build 100+ houses and runoff becomes a major problem.

Peach Orchard is 8 miles from 61 bridge, as I said before this property is 4 miles above 61 bridge, not upstream from Peach Orchard.
