Campground on Big Cover Road.
 

Hoping someone might be able to help me out. Trying to find the name and or contact information for the Campground that is located at the Beginning of the Catch and Release Raven Fork Trophy section.

Mac--I don't think there is a campground at the beginning of the catch-and-release section if you mean Big Cove (as opposed to Big Cover) Road, which I assume you do. The section actually begins at the Blue Ridge Parkway Bridge and the land is, on one side, in the Park. The other side is where the new Cherokee H. S. is located. On upstream there's a KOA and other campgrounds. Maybe that's what you have in mind? You can probable do a bit of Internet searching connected with Cherokee tourism and come up with the name you are seeking. There's a passel of campgrounds scattered along Big Cove Road.

Flyman--You are right, I believe. Your post helped stir my memory. I'm not sure whether most (or for that matter, any) of those campgrounds are open during the off-season, but with the casino going year around, I assume they probably are. I've drive past them a bunch of times going to and from Straight Fork, but truth be told I haven't paid a lot of attention other than to muse to the effect "that's sure a huge change since I was a boy."

A much nicer campgound IMO is Indian Creek Campground. It's further down Big Cove Rd. Not as phony (IMO) as the Big Cove campgrounds, on a side rd, several small creeks running by, a much better outdoor experience. First camped there around 15 years ago, and have never had a bad experience.

I believe the trophy section begins at the River Valley Campground. It's in the big curve on big cove road. You can find contact info by going to Cherokee Chamber of Commerce on line. Hope this helps.
