Upcoming Trip to GSM

Perhaps like a number of 'folks' we're heading to GSM this weekend for a few days of wildflower-hikes and fishing - not necessarily in that order. Camping in Townsend and hoping that fishing stays on the 'upside' as it sounds from other posts.

Will be stopping by LRO for latest info, but wondering whether anyone has suggestions for 'spots' to throw a few flies at some trout (above Institute? above Chimneys picnic area? above Elkmont campground?) - if 'doable' may try for GSM slam this trip.

Haven't thrown bugs at any GSM trout since last Thanksgiving, and casting arm is starting to itch and twitch - especially due to some encouraging posts about fishing-quality of late.

Thanks
Fishstu

I'd fish the Little River anywhere from Metcalf up. There should be no one on this stretch.
Actually it'll be crowded but keep humpin' till you find suitable "fishy" looking water without anyone on it. IMO the fish are there for the takin' this spring. Take #12,#14,and #16 parachute adams, be VERY stealthy, and that's all you'll need.

A 'plum' Dodge Dakota with rod-rack on front - - would be me - - good luck

Metcalf Bottoms on up to Elkmont should be great right now. I've caught some pretty good fish around Metcalf.

Nymphs are probably going to be your best bet given the higher water. Still, dries can be used. Try a Prince, Green Weenie, Pheasant Tail, Lightning Bug, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions - - here's hoping for success (sel-fish-ly for myself and any others 'on the water') the next few days!
