Cabin Fever Project #1
Had a serious case of "cabin fever" in late January so I decided to build my first fly rod in over two years. I have been curious about the Sevier Manufacturing rod blanks for a year or so and decided to give them a shot. The owner, Dave is a great guy to deal with and I was originally interested in the "Tiger Eye" blanks, but he made me a deal I couldn't refuse on a pewter finish blank 2/3 weight, 4 pc. Not sure if he'll be getting any more of these, but I wanted to try one in addition to a 3/4 weight in the Tiger Eye finish. Pics aren't the greatest, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out, and I like the moderate action. Hope to try it out in the Smokies this weekend.
The Tiger Eye build is drying as I type this message. I'll post pics of it once it is dry. Tried a different look on that blank, wraps and color of guides. Nice looking rod! The colors work well. Did you add the 'fly' image too? If so; how did you make it?

Shawn,
I cheated and used a sticker I purchased from Jan's Netcraft. I wish I was that artistic:biggrin: Neal |
I could paint that by hand if you wanted to mail it to Nashville. :p

Thanks for sharing that Neal. Really nice looking rod.

I am sure you could. I may try a little simplistic art on a future build, but if I had great artistic ability I wouldn't be stomping up and down the hills of East TN for a living;) Neal |
Neal,
Try a weave sometime for that "artistic" touch. Lee |
