question
I fish some in the Cumberland River here in Ky,should wading boots be cleaned(disenfected) before wading the steams of the Smoky's,or any stream that is cosidered foreign to one's homewaters...
|
I am sure someone with much more knowledge than I will answer this, but I would say that if you are wading waters that attach to any waters where zebra mussels are present I would clean my felt. I soak mine in a tub with a 10% bleach solution for a couple of days to be safe, although I don't wade the zebra mussel waters.

Most definitely YES! Drugcops's advice is right on. Wash & sanitize everything that has been in contact with the water.
In my personal opinion, I believe zebra mussels are a greater threat to the water quality, even more so than didymo. :frown: |
Sanitize any time you fish more than one body of water.

Freezing wading boots
I too fish the Cumberland and understand that freezing your boots, etc. also kills the Didymo. I have also treated with 10% solution, but wanted to see what the rest of the board knew about the freezing (true or not).
