Da Elk

Me and Bigpopper hit the Elk the other weekend. Fishing sucked. Don't go there. Here are a few pics. Some other stuff on my crappy blog;

I caught a couple of these massive bows:

What about today, tomorrow, next week? That is what keeps us going back- some days you get chicken, other days you get feathers. First picture- is it raining? Hopefully, the fish didn't get wet. ;)

I know where you are and the fishing most certainly does not suck in that area... :rolleyes: A tough day? Unfavorable conditions?? The trout just laughing at you under the water?? Perhaps all of the above.... but don't write it off.
Last break in generation a couple weeks back I had 14 to hand and missed several others. More or less a typical day on that river...

Like he said, don't go there! I don't like crowds where I fish! :biggrin:

Blueraiderfan, we'll have to fish together one of these days. I'm not far from the Elk, and am hoping to hit up the smokies again this spring. I suck equally at both locations, but am hoping to get better.

2012 goals:
1)Catch a brown on the fly measuring at least 18" (or better)
2)Catch more brook trout
3)Catch a wild brown in the smokies (never caught one there!)
4)Catch a decent smallmouth on the fly (2lbs or better)

Would be awesome if 1 and 3 could be one in the same, but I probably have a better chance of getting struck by lightning or winning the lottery.

What was I thinking, I'm obviously confused...

Kindly disregard my previous post. What you need to do is focus on the Caney Fork if you want to catch some real trout. Heck, even the Duck will probably give you a better shot at some quality fish rather than wasting your time down on the Elk. Trust me, I know because I waste a lot of time down there... :biggrin:

Will do. My goal this year is to catch AND LAND, AND TAKE A PICTURE OF a 18"+ fish in the Smokies.

Yep, it was raining. Didn't stop us though. I've never melted from the rain yet. Slept in a hole a few weeks here and there up to my knees in water and always survived. :biggrin:

I won't melt but I might lump up a bit.;) The Hiwassee is fickle- one day you have to hide behind a tree to change flies. Others, TNT wouldn't work.
