Cherokee Fish Kills?

Has anyone heard this or have any more info? I saw it on another board and wondered because we're going out to fish for a week at Cherokee starting Saturday. I figured to fish there a couple of days, fish the park a couple of days, and I'm meeting a guy up at Newport to fish the Pigeon for smallies one day.

Bran,

Can you provide any more information on this. I googled it and the only thing i find was from the flood last year.

I would be interested in any new updates on the area myself.

Thanks

I did the same Mac. I don't know if there's anything to it yet, just saw it on another board and they said they heard it on the news.

I assume you are talking about Cherokee, NC...?

If so, my neighbor was there two weeks ago and said it was shoulder to shoulder with most everybody catching fish on spinners, corn, and crawlers. This was in the normal day permit tribal waters section, not the FF only section. Of course he said nothing was larger than 8", and most people walked out of there with a limit.

10-4. I am going to try the trophy section some and then I'm going up toward Smokemont. I never found anything else out on this either from
searches, etc. Not sure where the guy got his info. Thanks guys, tight lines!

Fish Kill

This kill was reported on local new (WLOS 13).......... seems as though the water temperature rose to 70 +/- and I assume the oxygen level dropped significantly and they lost a number of smaller fish at the hatchery on in Big Cove.. i'm sure they will replace the fish that were killed from another local hatchery. I don't think there were any stream fish that were affected. I fished the upper "Luftee" on Monday and the water temp was 64

Thanks for the info! I'm fishing Raven Fork starting tomorrow.
