Droppers all morning, dry all afternoon
Ducky and I headed back out on Saturday and decided not to go on a camera retrieval mission because the potential for sketchy weather and headed elsewhere.

After the hike in with a tag along from Ohio who wanted to see what flyfishing was about and he watched from the trail while we fished the first little stretch.

I quickly picked up my first rainbow on the dropper

Big Trees

Ducky was having goods results and was mostly catching them on the dropper as well like this hefty guy

Ducky catching another good one

But it turned out to be a Hairy-Taled Mole (or what's left of it, I originally thought it was a shrew)

Then species started to switch up

For a little while the weather looked great

Another good brookie

And my best fish of the day:

A 9.5" rainbow who was very meaty!

I decided at this point to take a break and eat lunch. At which point it started to rain...

We looked at the GPS and it seemed that we were at the closest point to the trail we would be for a while and contemplating bailing. We decided to stick it out and risk it.

It was the best decision of the day.

While all morning the action was primarily on the dropper, after the rain, the brookies went nuts and it was all dry fly action for the rest of the afternoon

We got out of there and beat the all the rain, and somehow also missed most of it on the drive back.

Oh yeah and I had a pretty good dinner....

Thanks for taking the time to post your fishing report. It's a good one.

Very Nice. I need to make a mountain trip soon.

Thanks for a great day
I'm used to the typical question by tourists but have never had one follow me to the river before. He hiked in with us for over a mile and a half just to watch us fish a hundred yards of stream. Was a nice enough guy and I was glad to land a fish for him to see:rolleyes:

Glad you made the call to push on when it first started raining. The fish really turned on after that:biggrin:

That mole really gave me a scare when I about jumped on top of him. Usually my girlish screams are reserved for bears and poisonous snakes:eek:

And I will be going on a camera retrieval mission soon. My Dad is in town on Friday for the weekend, and I'm leading a hike to Gregory Bald (anyone welcome to join) on Sunday so it won't happen this weekend, but I'm dying to get back up there:smile:

And if the camera never surfaces, I dropped $50 on another used pentax optio so my post starting next week will be back to having pictures.

I thought everyone was scared of bunnies:smile:

Only thing scarier would be if a clown was involved:eek: Thankfully I didn't have a mirror;)

Only attack bunnies of the Monte Python variety!!

Thank you for this report! Looking at the pics, I noticed a lot of pink in your droppers. I begged my son to tie some pink weenies before out trip on Thursday because I was afraid that my order from LRO wouldn't be here on time (it arrived as we were leaving). The pink weenie was the only fly that worked yesterday and we had our best day ever.
