What's your preferred rod for Smokies fishing?

I have a Cabela's 4/5 wt. 9 footer, but I've been contemplating a 3/4 wt. 8.5 footer.

What's the rod length/weight of choice for all you Smokies fishers?

7.5 4wt. Loomis gl3

sage zxl 3wt 8 1/2 ft
for smaller creeks scott g2 3wt 7'7''
payne parabolic bamboo 7'9" 5wt

I believe an 8 ft 4wt would be the perfect rod

spring and winter I love my 10 foot Cortland. all summer and in low water I like my 8.5 or 9 foot 3 weight. I like my Ross rods.. They are light action and get a little more play out of even the smaller fish. I will add that I have also had no major problems landing fish 18in plus on them.

My fav, mostly only fish with a dry, is my 7Ft 2WT.

Love it....

St Croix

I have a St Croix Legend Ultra that is 7'9" and it is my favorite Smokies rod. It has plenty of back bone for tossing tandem rigs without a hitch and can also handle a large fish with no problem...yet you can enjoy feeling the "fight" of smaller fish that are more common in the mountains.

Angler ' S Edge IM6-IM7 Graphite Fly Rods

You might be surprised with this one...I finally let the secret out on this rod. One of the best rods I have ever thrown at an insane price. Good luck on finding one used or new.

My fishing bud would prob pick a tenkara though.

11ft Tenkara or an 8ft Orvis Battenkill although I now have a 7 1/2 ft new cane rod.
