Panfish, poppers and a glass rod
I bought a new Orvis Superfine glass 4 wt this year and have really been enjoying it on the local rivers this spring. Thought I would share a few picts from last evening. Love the colors of the local panfish.

Beautiful fish. They must have been hungry to get that whole popper in their mouths. I'm glad to see some warmwater reports showing up.

Beautiful fish Gary! I've been thinking about getting one of those Superfine glass rods. They are such smooth casting rods that I know it would be a blast both in the mountains and on panfish.

I haven't fished for any trout with it yet. I have caught a lot of little smallies on it though. As long as the wind is not bad, the new glass rod is capable of 50 ft cast with a #6 stealth bomber or popper.

Those are beautiful fish! Good job of the pictures! Nothing like slinging a glass rod with poppers.

I wouldn't mind catching a bunch of little smallies like that!!!

Gary, What kind of pack is that around your neck? I'm looking for a small pack and that looks like something that might fit the bill.

Great panfish pictures. Those things will eat almost anything. I've caught them on a open swivel clip before. A shiny one but still...

Thanks! I lost my camera so I using my I-phone now to take picts. I do keep it in a lifeproof case in case it gets wet!
Panfish are so much fun on a light rod, and are plentiful. Yes, they are easy to catch , but I'm not a skilled angler so perfect for me!

Buzz, I bought that little pack many years ago. It is an JW Outfitters small chest pack. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business. American made just doesnt have a chance these days. There is another nice small pack called the flask pack by Rising. I have one of them also. Slightly larger and will hold 2 streamer boxes and a small camera inside with tools and tippet on the outside. Well constructed and made in USA! Can be slung on side, use as chest pack or attached to belt.

I really like the JWO for wading when I only need the basics . Very streamlined with little to catch the fly line on. I opens like a clamshell and has a flat velcro pad to attach fly box and some spaces for leaders and such. I really like the tippet pocket on the front. I use Maxima ultragreen tippet and spools fit perfectly with the tippet fed through the mesh. The nipper and my hemos attach on the back and dont hang in the way. There is also a clip that allows the pack to attach to the top of chest waders and it takes all weight off the neck. Too bad they went out of business.
