That looks like what most people round here refer to as a Yellow Drake dun. Curious to know where the specimen from your wonderful pics came from? My father-in-law has a pond in Blount Co. that produces these same looking bugs...something like an extended body sz 8 type dry fly would be needed to imitate them! I'll bet they came off just before dark right?

I did catch the fly in the late afternoon just before dark....And it was in Blount county the one in Alabama.... Randy_Ratliff Thanks for the information sounds like the book "Trout Stream Insects an Orvis streamside guide" would be a good addition to my collection. |
