First one

Just thought I'd throw this in to get it started. Dog is Lucy. Nikon D50, 70-300 lens.

Nice pic. Your dog is a beaut. I have a black lab also, Wrigley. It is funny because I have so many pictures of him too. I think it is because he is the only one who will go on trips with me. It is amazing how photogenic this breed is too.

Did this work?

Nevermind, that opened the whole album. I'll figure this out later.

How 'bout now?

Allright, think that worked. We could turn this into a black lab thread. Happy upcoming St. Patrick's Day from 120 lbs of stupid named Smedley.

Just copy the [img] address and it won't open a whole album.

Thanks, Paula. I think I got it.

I'm guessing the nikon d50 is an slr camera??

I have a pentax optio w20, which i love because it's waterproof. I would love to upgrade one day to a nice slr so i could get those really great shots, but i would be afraid of damaging it somehow.

Anyways, nice picture and can't wait until this section of the forums gets rolling.

Mntman, Yea, the d50 is an SLR. I haven't yet even begun to use it to its full capacity. I normally just set the thing to auto and go at it. I'm pretty rough with my equipment and the thing still works after a year, so I think it can withstand quite a bit of abuse. I take it on all my hunting trips and its been dropped once, sat on multiple times, and has even gotten damp once (not soaking wet, just damp). Just make sure you get a polarizing lens cap to put on the lens, that has been broke, but saved the lens. My next camera (hopefully before next deer season) is going to be a Panasonic FZ18. It's a point and shoot, 8.1 megapixels, 28mm wide angle lens, 18x optical zoom, and quiet as a mouse. The Nikon shutter on the slr camera is just too loud for taking pictures of animals that are close enough to see their breath.

ACinEastTN, nice looking dog. I wanted to give my dog a cool name like Wrigley or Smedley, but my wife would have none of it. We settled on Lucy, as in Charley Brown's sister. After we had her for 2 weeks, Lucy started to fit her personality. Lucy, short for Lucifer. She ate the coffee table, a cell phone, my glasses, and everything else she could get in her mouth.

I don't think i would drop it that much, but since i'd be using it on the stream i know the dunk would come sooner or later and i would cry if i dropped that thing in the water. Do they make some sort of waterproof housing for them that isn't too bulky or expensive? Like i said, i would love to have one but couldn't afford to bite the bullet WHEN i drop it, because i know it would happen sooner or later.

Sorry to hijack the thread, by the way.

currently using the Nikin D50 (digital SLR) also but believe I am going to upgrade to the D80 and pass the D50 down to mamma (should be good for a few points). The new D80 has some nice features such as being able to shoot B&W and also more ISO options.

Question....has anyone used the Tamron lenses.....I am concidering the Tamron lense that goes to 500mm (which on the digital is equivialnt of 750mm. Just curious about the quality of the optics.... you have the 2x teleconverter for your 70-300mm lense, it is a nice addition for shooting distance.....
