That's awesome! The first thing I ever caught in the park on a fly rod was a crayfish. I think I caught mine on a black woolly bugger.

Good observations. I'm sure they'll help. I naturally tend to go for the longer pools - but probably need to fight that urge and stick to the pockets, especially in times of low water.
