Tippet Rings

Anyone ever use tippet rings on the clinch? They look simple and you don't keep biting back into the leader unless you replace the ring.

I have heard that using flourocarbon tippet is essential to catching fish on the the Clinch. Is it really that big of a deal? If you used 5X flourocarbon could you use 6X nylon to the same extent?
