I haven't had much issues fishing, but I did have an encounter while trail running in Pisgah last year. I just so happened to stop and perch underneath a nest on a brutal climb and quickly got...

If you're going to be close to Sylva, I'd just go to the Smokies. If you don't want to do that, though, there is lots of water up the mountains on the ridge that separates Sylva and...

Oh wow, yeah kinda hard to recommend something for that large of an area to choose from. Like others have mentioned, grab a map and go up high. There's a lot more high elevation water on public land...

It can be, but it's skinny water. There's parts that you can't fish because it's too tight and then it opens up enough where you can fish, although it's still tight. I'm not sure I'd go there just...

Rather than a location to fish I think the best piece of advice I could give, especially in these conditions, is to make sure and fish with stealth as much as possible. Stay low, blend in, don't get...

OK now I know we're talking about the same stream! The last time I was up there the trail faded out about a mile or so up and was very overgrown. I'm not sure if it's just a path that has been beaten...

I've caught brookies in Palmer as well and I've heard that they're in the main stem of Cataloochee, although not quite as plentiful. If you fish Palmer or Caldwell, you'll predominantly get rainbows,...
